Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means “universal life force energy” and is a gentle, non-invasive healing modality. Reiki assists the body in restoring the natural balance essential to maintaining its energy system and in supporting its ability to repair itself. It is a simple, yet extremely effective hands-on healing technique.
Reiki healing is based on the premise that there is a universal life force energy that circulates throughout the universe and connects all living things. This force has innate healing powers and knows if the body is out of balance or damaged in some way. Reiki practitioners act as channels for this energy, enabling it to enter a person’s body and to go straight to the cause of the disease. The energy works by restoring the body to a state of balance and when this balance is achieved, overall physical health is improved.

Reiki Sessions In a Reiki session the energy flows through the practitioner and out the hands. The Reiki practitioner places hands either lightly on the body or above the body. You will generally feel a sense of relaxation and well-being and may feel warmth from the hands of the practitioner. Some experiences people have had with Reiki are a sense of calm and peace, relief from pain, connection with spirit, increased energy, emotional healing and physical healing on many levels.
During a healing session the practitioner is guided by the energy flow to the areas most in need of healing. The Reiki energy is intelligent and will go where it is most needed. This may or may not be where you feel it is needed. In this way healing energy will always be received yet it may not be in the manner anticipated. A willingness to be healed is necessary although it is not necessary to fully believe in Reiki for the energy to work. By removing blocks and clearing the energy field the Reiki energy then opens the way for your body to heal itself. This may occur with one session or require a series of sessions.
Reiki is an experience, different for everyone. If you feel guided to Reiki you may want to try a session. Many people feel connected to Reiki because it is something you have always known but are just now remembering. Often times people guided to Reiki feel so connected that they want to learn Reiki.
